Space PoE Network Discovery

In the rapidly evolving field of Space Operations, network flexibility, reliability, and real-time adaptability are critical for mission success. The Dynamic Network Discovery Protocol (DNDP), optimised for Dynamic Space Operations and other space-based applications, offers a solution that ensures seamless on-board communication and automated network management in extreme and dynamic environments. Built on Ethernet technology and the Space PoE Manager, DNDP enables efficient and secure device discovery, management, and reconfiguration, addressing the unique challenges of space networks.

The figure below illustrates a typical network architecture for a space system. In dynamic space operations, these networks frequently undergo significant changes as space systems reconfigure and adjust their topology to meet mission requirements and operational phases. The Dynamic Network Discovery Protocol (DNDP) enables seamless integration between previously undefined networks in-orbit.

Example Space-System Network Architecture Using Ethernet

The figure above illustrates a typical space system network architecture, highlighting the complexity that a reconfigurable space system can exhibit when part of an interconnected network of networks. The Dynamic Network Discovery Protocol (DNDP) will integrate these network topologies with dynamic routing and power distribution across multiple nodes, enabling plug-and-play capabilities for space systems in orbit.
